Timberwolves Grab 1-0 Series Lead Over Nuggets
Edwards Explodes for 43, Wolves Win 106-99
Wolves Seize Control, Puts Nuggets in Unfamiliar Position
In a thrilling opening night matchup, the Minnesota Timberwolves took control of their first-round series against the Denver Nuggets with a convincing 106-99 victory on ESPN. The Wolves, led by Anthony Edwards' playoff career-high 43 points, put the Nuggets in an unfamiliar position as they trail for the first time in these playoffs.
The Timberwolves dominated the game from the start, building an early lead and never looking back. Edwards was unstoppable, scoring at will from all over the court. Naz Reid provided a much-needed boost off the bench, scoring 14 of his 16 points in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.
The Nuggets, who entered the series as the heavy favorites, struggled to find their rhythm. Nikola Jokic, the reigning MVP, was held to just 21 points on 8-of-20 shooting. Jamal Murray, who returned from injury in Game 1, was limited to 17 points on 6-of-15 shooting.
With the victory, the Timberwolves take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 2 will be played in Denver on Tuesday night.
