North Carolina Judge Rejects Rfk Jrs Request To Remove His Name From State Ballots

# North Carolina Judge Rejects RFK Jr.'s Request to Remove His Name From State Ballots ## Judge Rules That RFK Jr. Failed to Prove 'Good Cause' A North Carolina judge has rejected Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s request to remove his name from the state's Democratic primary ballot for U.S. Senate. Wake County Superior Court Judge Bryan Collins ruled on Friday that RFK Jr. failed to prove "good cause" for removing his name from the ballot. "The court finds that the plaintiff has not met his burden of proving good cause for withdrawing his candidacy," Collins wrote in his order. ## RFK Jr. Argued He Was Misled About Campaign Filing Requirements RFK Jr. had argued that he was misled about the campaign filing requirements by the North Carolina Democratic Party. He said he believed he had until March 8 to file his candidacy, but the deadline was actually February 24. ## Judge Says RFK Jr. Had Ample Time to File Collins rejected this argument, saying that RFK Jr. had ample time to file his candidacy before the deadline. "The court finds that the plaintiff had sufficient time to file his notice of candidacy prior to the February 24, 2022 deadline," Collins wrote. ## RFK Jr. Can Still Appeal the Decision RFK Jr. can still appeal the judge's decision to the North Carolina Court of Appeals. However, it is unclear if he will do so. The North Carolina Democratic primary election is scheduled for May 17.
